Do THEREMINS work/ play correctly when surrounded by steel?

Was hoping to find some useful information on here where the experts know their theremins. Does prefabricated porcelain enameled steel affect theremin's abilities? Here in the United States during post 2nd World War this type of construction called, "LUSTRON" was thought up in response to the shortage of homes for returning G.I.s.

Interested in this type of home, but have to be able to play the theremin somewhere indoors!

To be clear, in a Lustron home the roof, the walls inside and out, the ceiling, the doors, the cabinets are all porcelain enameled steel panels with a cement slab floor.  The house is very interesting in a historical way.  Would a theremin operate properly in such an environment?
Thanks

Some adjustment of the pitch and volume field controls may be needed or in the worst case some adjustments to the oscillator coils inside with the special tool, when you can't get to the desired zero beat point and volume control, may be needed, just like when over time the sweet spot shifts outside the reeach of the dials.

In some locations due to seasonal temperature and air moisture variations such an adjustment might be even be needed twice a year. But because it is about the variation in capacitance and not the absolute values, once the theremin is tuned correctly, conductive objects that do not move are not an impediment for the playability of a theremin.

More than 3 meters distance should avoid effects of the steel entirely.

I don't see any problems here due to metal or porcelain, just keep 5 feet off the wall and use your theremin as usual will work.
I also have a steel/wood construction and can adjust and play my etherwave elsewhere in the room with the appropriate distance from the steel parts. Also see as electronics engineer, as i am, no problem there with the fields.

What about the ceiling tile, which is also steel with porcelain enamel coating?  Antenna will always be within 4 of 5 feet.  Also does the porcelain coating shield the effects of steel tiles on walls and ceiling?
Thanks for posts.  They are appreciated.

PS.I will probably have to take my EtherwavePlus and try it out in person before we buy the house.
Thanks again

Likely no problem, the porcelain, being an isolator (just like the air) will have no significant influence.
If you can just try out how it works that's the best to make sure, but I think you'll find you just have to adjust the pitch dial a little to get a playable field and your zero beat at the desired distance.

I also have steel-concrete below, because here in Europe nearly everybody has a cellar made of concrete steel enforced to withstand the load,
There is no effect to regognize of this, neither when i play directly 120cm above it or 120cm above my second floor constructed of wood and steel bars. Never had any problems. Wood-metal also has an effect, you know about realigning an etherwave, everything changes with the wood and metal bolts cover on top....
Even you use a metal microphone stand and it works....
Just try it in the house if you can't believe it.

Yes, thanks so much EVERYONE! What 'was' a lingering worry -now, seems unnecessary! At worst, there COULD be a need to enter inside. But, to hear so many positive results makes a big difference!
