Before I Completely Fade Away

Before I completely fade from the theremin scene my purpose was always to be a messenger, to remind people of the true Theremin Phenomenon which is a remarkable gift from Nature. One day she will rise again to be the favorite above all the theremin imitators that never understood her.

Lev Sergeyevich Termen did not invent the phenomenon rather he discovered it. By Nature the simple phenomenon has its own natural & unique timbre’s along with ideal pitch field linearity.

I am not against the synthesis approach but something very distinct is being lost.

To properly create her voice digitally you must first calculate "how many angels can sit on the tip of a single tac pin".

The true Theremin Phenomenon by its very Nature is the "standard", why Valery Shamarin is able to play with little practice in the video below . . . boards just sitting on top of the box they were shipped in.

Do not settle for a whistle/flute synth sound except at Halloween. The authentic theremin is so much more than just using the Theremin Family name, even worse is that beached walrus sound.

Seen in the image below are the Components of the True Theremin Phenomenon. In 1920 it was much more complicated & difficult to achieve. Two RF oscillators and a resonating Pitch Antenna, operating at 963 kHz

The phenomenon is simple but not easily understood, why many engineers think going digital simplifies the approach.

The sound byte in my first post above demonstrates the gentle angel of the theremin. The sound sample below uses the True Theremin Phenomenon “mimicking” a synth, challenging all the imitators. Some will notice the difference in sound.
