As I sit here reteaching myself to read sheet music (learning guitar did me on for that skill) I decide I need a music desk for my Etherwave Standard. I have seen some builds where folks built "traditional" theremin carcasses that double as a music desk, but they are way too big and serve no purpose other than looking like an old theremin and the music desk. I said to myself, "Self, your theremin lives on a mic stand. Why not a mic stand mounted music desk?"
So that's what I did.
I do woodworking as a hobby and murdered all the trees on my small property a few years ago which included some white birch. I had milled a bunch of that into quarter sawn boards and let it dry for a couple of years.
This desk is made from cherry for the clamp, maple for the protractor, pivot piece and white birch for the desk itself.
It telescopes a few inches in and out so you can have it up high and less horizontal or you could slide it down the mic stand, telescope it towards you and flatten the desk out.
Bread board-esque type construction to allow for wood expansion, slots in the mounting flange to allow for the same. Butchers wax finish which is easily renewable and gives a decent hardness.
It seems the only way I have been able to add photos is to create an album first. These pictures are from links in this album.
