Endplate vs. Loop

Is it possible to convert the loop on an Etherwave to an end plate, such as on the old melodia? Thoughts, anyone?

Try it out!  Remove the loop antenna and stick a temporary plate on there somehow (aluminum duct tape?).  See if the new range can be accommodated with internal IF transformer calibration.  The intrinsic capacitance might be lower, which would raise the LC resonance point, so you might have to add some series inductance if you can't calibrate it.

I think there is a value in the external antenna on the EW as-built.  It further separates the pitch and volume sides, thus lowering the possibility of unintentional interaction during play.
