Unlabeled Schematics Help?

So I'm constructing my first theremin using the schematics from Strange Apparatus' "How to Build a Theremin." The thing is, there is a diode and a bridge rectifier that have gone unlabeled, and I can't figure out what they are. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it :)

I'm having trouble inserting the pictures, but the Volume Resonant Circuit and Voltage Controlled Amplifier is missing the diode label, and the Power Supply is missing the bridge rectifier label. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Kathy, in my opinion you are heading down a road to nowhere.

Thierry a local here has a proven design, it is pitch only control.

You can buy a finished EtherWave Standard board for $96, this is pitch and volume control. This is the #1 best design out there.

I think the finest Thereminist is Canadian so this has led my theremin madness, after 10 years, into drinking Canadian Whiskey. I will get back to you if this approach has benefits.

That StrangeApp theremin is going to sound like an unstable mouse squeaking, that is why no sound sample is furnished.

You can use a small signal diode like 1N914 or 1N4148 for the VCA.  

The bridge rectifier should probably be 1A or greater, with 200PIV or greater.  Individual rectifier diodes (maybe 1N5408) would work just as well.
