Just got this e-mail from Carolina Eyck's manager--Congratulations, Carolina!!
ECHO Klassik 2015--We are very proud to announce that Carolina Eyck has won one of the biggest German music awards, the ECHO Klassik 2015 on the CD "Kalevi Aho: Theremin Concerto - Horn Concerto" in the category "Concert Recording of the Year (Music 20./21. century)".
The album was released in 2014 by the Swedish label BIS Records (Klassik Center Kassel). Both Concertos were recorded by the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and conductor John Storgårds, Soloists were thereminist Carolina Eyck and hornist Annu Salminen.
"It is not just a great honor for me, but also a big step for my work to give the theremin its place in the classical music world. I would like to thank everybody who accompanied me on my journey. Especially those of you who support me in so various ways. And I would like the thank Kalevi Aho that he was curious and courages enough to say "yes" when I asked him to write a Theremin Concerto for me in 2010 ." (Carolina Eyck)
