Can't view these in work but I presume they're of musicians humiliating themselves, or something.

I'd hope that professional musicians would have their imperfections and fallacies shown up to the point that we don't expect perfection or lose faith every time they mess up. The whole "it might end up on Youtube" anxiety asserted by Pringle et al is symptomatic of a fear of looking stupid. I say let people look stupid. It'll give them some humility and it'll give their audiences some realistic expectations. Maybe in a better world, Britney giving a sub-par performance doesn't warrant a media circus, I don't know.

They clips have an alternate sound track provided by someone emulating a tone-deaf novice with delusions of grandeur.

Like going to the opera and discovering Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's voice is totally processed in the studio, and she really sounds like Joe Pasquale (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7kr3ONDkh9Q).

Yep, this is strictly comedy.

My naming of this thread "The Perils of YouTube" is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the idea that one mustn't do anything unless one has complete and total artistic control.

The videos are funny however comments from people who didn't realize they were overdubbed are pretty funny, too!
