Hello everybody.

I'm new in this land of theremin. I've discovered this instrumention yesterday while I was watching a music clip of a Brazilian Band that refers Leon Theremin. At this point, I started to search about Theremin and I'm stayed very interested.

I have two important questions. It can be possible, that one person with no much knowledge of music play Theremin? I'm don't play any other instrument, but I'm interested in learn to play Theremin. Is it possible???

The other question is : Can I find Theremins to buy in Brazil. If not, where can I find to buy one?

Thank you everyone.

Greetings.

First off let me say, if you can hum a tune you can play the Theremin. It is a difficult instrument to master, but the basics of playing are easy to achieve.

As for buying a theremin in Brazil. I don't see why you can't purchase on online. I guess you would have to check with the manufacturer about power supply, meaning if Brazil runs on 240 volts you would obviously need a theremin that has a 240 volt power supply.

Nothing a little research through a manufacturer won't solve.

Good luck, and happy theremininininining.

Welcome to the community of Theremin enthusiasts.

Indeed, some people with limited musical training are playing quite musically on the Theremin.

You may want to start out with a Theremin such as the "Etherwave Standard". It is a very playable Theremin and tends to hold its resale value. Some cheap Theremins are really toys -- they are not really playable and will frustrate your efforts to play tunes.

If you can hold a tune singing or humming then you are off to a good start.

You can check out some of the Technique threads here on Thereminworld and feel free to post questions. The people here on Thereminworld are very willing to answer your questions.

Enjoy!
