After a year of thinking about how this could be built, I suddenly had the thaught of just taking an etherwave standard, and mounting it on a mic boom so the case is vertical, with the pitch rod horizontal over the performer, and simply have the perfromer control dynamics by moving closer to, or further from the theremin's volume plate.

Any ideas? Pros? Cons?

Hey Thomas,
Would this be meant to act like the Terpistone dance instrument? I've often thought of how cool it would be to try one out, but I've read that it was notorious for being absolutely unplayable. That may be why there were only 3 made. It would, though, seem to potentially enhance the showmanship and physical expressiveness of the performer...I know I would like to see someone try to play it! For special effect junkies, this might be a cool stage experiment. I would love to see a video if you decide to construct it.

I believe it would act like that instrument.

As soon as I can fix my Etherwave Standard, I intend to set up a simple dance platform, and demo it on youtube. I have a feeling two theremins might present some interesting possibilities.

Ooh, two Theremins would sound cool! what's wrong with your E-Standard?

...speaking of two Theremins...GordonC, do you have a video to go with your avatar(playing two Theremins)? Do you even play two at once? If so, are you good at it?

A diode went out on my E Standard a couple mounths back. I just ordered the replacement.
