I am having a hard time sounding four separate notes from a single "position", as in his video demo. Any ideas? I can't quite seem to get the right spread for the range of notes. I get three - almost four.
Thanks.

Which video are you watching? Is it the How To Play the Theremin DVD? If sow what part are you seeing that?

Is this the technique where he switches isometric grip to the middle finger, and thumb?

If it's what I think it is you're talking about, I've had difficulty with that as well.

To get a range of four notes in one position, you need to "tune " the pitch range to your hand, not to the length of you arm.

I usually tune like Carolina Eyck does so I get a full octave jump between closed fist, and full open position. It also depends on where in relation to the antenna my hand is. how far rorward, or behind an imaginary line that runs between my chest, and the antenna my hand is has a lot to do with this.
