Wanted - article on digital recording tips

I've had a few requests from people who want to enter the contests but don't have recording gear. They're looking for an introductory article on digital recording with a PC or Mac.

i do alot of audio recording, but have little time on my hands to write articles, i could however be able to trouble shoot for anyone if say a forum thread were set-up for that purpose.

i'm assuming people making requests are after a straight forward solution, and don't wish to navigate around, or pay for professional audio packages, so the results needed could be obtained from these free programs:

i personally spend too much time at http://www.kvraudio.com, which has a very active forum and is a web centre for many audio software developers.

i hope these may be of some use, i've restricted it to freeware and kept it narrow to avoid swamping.
