30 years of theremining

I've been quite absent for the past decade, but I'm still lurking from time to time to see what's happening in the world of theremins. I can't believe this site has been going (in various forms) for just over 30 years! 

As many of you know, the code this site is built on no longer compiles and the only copy lives on an 11 year old Macbook Pro running an unsupported version of Windows in Bootcamp. That said, I'm pretty proud the website is still going strong and performing decently even with posts that have 3500+ replies! 

I want to thank those of you who are helping support Theremin World by clicking through our affiliate links when you make purchases. Those small commissions pay for our annual web hosting, the occasional emergency "extra bandwidth" when we have extra visitors some months, and domain upkeep. You can also support the site on Patreon at https://patreon.com/thereminworld, although there is no actual direct benefit back to you. If I can ever get the code to compile again, perhaps I can hide ads for Patreon supporters or something. I want to thank our current Patreon supporters from the bottom of my heart for their continued support of the site!

On a random note, I was looking around Reverb.com the other day and was shocked to see how expensive used Etherwave Standard theremins have become!

Supply & demand I guess.  Incredible Theremins can be made these days for not a lot of scratch, but there's evidently not enough scratch in it to motivate anyone to the point of manufacture - which is good and bad.  It was clearly a labor of love for Bob Moog.

I agree with ILYA. It feels like all of societies meaningful knowledge on the theremin is concentrated on this website. 

Good work Jason, Its pretty impressive you could make a website this complicated in the first place. You truly do to the theremin community. I hope this website enjoys another 30 years but no matter how long it lasts, I am proud to be a part of this legacy.

I just had a look at the Patreon site to discover that we are only 3 patreons !
