What do I do? From the concert footage I've seen, they're the best miniature Theremin money can buy, especially if they match the Etherwave in playability (a boast which I'm inclined to believe).

It seems like it'd be a useful thing to have to hand. Any help?

Well they are pitch only so at best they'll match half and etherwave. It's a fun instrument and the touring group is charming.

Mr. Takeuchi and the Friends of the Theremin are a little tough to contact from here.

His company page is

http://www.mandarinelectron.com/english/index.html

On his web site he listed his contact email as
m@mandarinelectron.com

TW listed links to his company page are here on
http://www.thereminworld.com/theremins.asp
And his own site
http://www.thereminworld.com/takeuchi.asp

Also, try some more searches on the TW site here,

limited to TW,
this is just part of what came up and looked helpful, there may be more tucked in the forums.

TW member virani is pictured with what looks like one, maybe he'll chime in if it is.
Who knows, those who saw or sponsored the Mable ensamble in the UK have some more leads?
A friend who speaks Japanese might be helpful too.

Good luck!
Keep us posted.

I got one by a friend who went to Tokyo.
I asked Masami if my friend could get one from him, and he was really nice, meeting him in a hotel, explaining to him how it works, signing me the Cds I also purchased...
I know he doesn't want to send any personally, but he's thinking about an international market, so I think soon you all be able to get one.
That's a really cool instrument, and really eye-catching during concerts.
If you know someone in Japan, it's available in different stores, or you'll have to wait for him to come to europe, or make his market deal.

It's important to keep in mind, it's a pitch only theremin, and it costs about $400 U.S..

I still want one though. I've seen a picture of the inside of one, and it uses a loop antenna for the pitch.

I thaught about making one of my own as it's easy to buy a matryoshka these days, you just have to get the right size, and find a good pitch only theremin kit small enough to put in it.

The last time I got an E-mail from the manufacturer, I was told that it would be some time this, or next year when matryomins hit the U.S. markets.

They will sell you one, but you have to pay the shipping costs from Japan.

Good luck getting one.
